Create Your Own Naturally Dyed Fukoshiki Wrapping Cloth

· · Comments

This November join us for an evening of natural dyes and furoshiki wrapping with SALT Textiles.

In this workshop we’ll be creating our own textiles using the magic of natural dyes, extracting earthly colours from seasonal botanical and food waste. You’ll also learn about simple mordants, natural fabrics, how to develop dyes at home and experimental tie-dye techniques.

Whilst your cloth is dyeing you’ll be taught basic furoshiki wrapping techniques. Learning how to beautifully wrap gifts and other home items - a sustainable, reusable alternative to wrapping paper and plastic bags.

  • Thursday 14th November
  • 7-9pm
  • Federation Coffee, Brixton Village, SW9 8PR
  • This workshop is open to all, you need no experience just curious hands.
  • All materials are included.
  • Tickets £40
Notes:

Guests are asked to bring a re-useable waterproof bag. Please notify us of any allergies at least 48 hours prior to the workshop.

About SALT Textiles:

SALT Textiles is a multidisciplinary brand exploring conscious materials and slow processes. Through materials SALT questions our relationship to objects; how they are made, how they are used and the processes behind them - focussing on textiles.

With an awareness of the environmentSALTobjects are hand-made using thoughtfully sourced fabrics and natural dyes. SALT also hosts regular workshops sharing these forgotten methods and has worked with The Coal Office, Margent Farm and poet Karina Zimmer.

The processes behind SALT develop with Jordan's personal practise, evolving each season.
