Tuesday 4th December
6.30 - 8.00pm
Federation Coffee | SW9 8PS
In this practical workshop, you’ll learn how to support your gut health by getting hands-on and making your very own delicious and health-boosting kimchi — a traditional Korean food that uses natural fermentation.
Once again we’ll be taking over Federation Coffee, with plant-based chef Alice MacKinnon back in the house to guide us through her traditional recipe and demonstrating how to add your own twist to give your take-home jar a festive kick. Ingredients and a glass of mulled wine included, but please bring a container to take your Kimchi home.
The workshop will include:
– An introduction to lactic fermentation, its health and wellbeing benefits and the equipment required
– Kimchi tasting, prep demonstration, recipe variations and storage
– Make your own take-home Kimchi using a range of seasonings
Alice MacKinnon is a plant based chef, cookery teacher and product consultant living in London. A real fermentation enthusiast, she has recently moved back from Los Angeles where she taught at the Matthew Kenney Culinary School.
Kimchi is a traditional fermeneted Korean side dish, rich in Vitamins A, B and C and healthy bacteria. Full of probiotics and antioxidants, it helps to promote digestion, regulate cholesterol and boost the immune system.
This is the ideal class for anyone who is new to fermentation, wishes to experiment with different seasonings, or wants to make some home-made Christmas gifts. All guests will also receive a 20% off voucher from The Keep Boutique.
(Please note, the workshop will be taking place at Federation Coffee, which is just the around the corner from our shop.
