71% of people living in situations of modern slavery today are women and girls.
About the Freedom Fund
Leaders in the global movement to end modern slavery, the Freedom Fund partner with visionary investors, governments, anti-slavery organisations and those at risk of exploitation, to tackle the systems that allow slavery to persist and thrive. Working together, they protect vulnerable populations, liberate and reintegrate those enslaved and prosecute those responsible.
We had the privilege of meeting senior programme office, Audrey Guichon, at last year’s Meets at the Keep where Audrey spoke about the vital work they do. Specifically in Tamil Nadu, southern India, where the textile industry is known as a hotspot for various forms of bonded labour. With tens of thousands of girls and young women recruited into employment schemes that result in excessive hours of work and extremely low pay – often with appalling effects on their mental and physical health – this program works closely with a wide range of organisations to reduce workers’ vulnerability to exploitation, strengthen mechanisms for protection, and help survivors emerge from abuse.
20% of the profits from our #FreedomFriday campaign will be donated to the Freedom Fund to help support the vital work they do.Index
