In this practical workshop, you'll learn how to support your gut health by getting hands-on and making your very own delicious and health-boosting kimchi — a traditional Korean food that uses natural fermentation.
Once again we’ll be taking over Federation Coffee, with plant-based chef Alice MacKinnon back in the house to guide us through her traditional recipe and demonstrating how to add your own twist to give your take-home jar a unique kick. Ingredients and equipment included, plus a glass of wine.
The workshop will include:
- An introduction to lactic fermentation, its health and wellbeing benefits and the equipment required.
- Kimchi tasting, prep demonstration, recipe variations and storage.
- Make your own take-home Kimchi using a range of seasonings.
Alice MacKinnon is a plant based chef, cookery teacher and product consultant living in London. A real fermentation enthusiast, she has recently moved back from Los Angeles where she taught at the Matthew Kenney Culinary School.
Kimchi is a traditional fermented Korean side dish, rich in Vitamins A,B and C and healthy bacteria. Full of probiotics and antioxidants, it helps to promote digestion, regulate cholesterol and boost the immune system.
